Join us October 27th at 11:00 a.m. for a special Nature Photography Workshop with special guest instructor Ray Downs.
This workshop will begin at Photos On The Vine to include class instruction over:
- What is Nature Photography? Discussion will include landscape, macro, wildlife, and some night photography. What to look for in the field.
- What makes a great Nature photograph? How to take advantage of what nature throws at you.
- Tools for making a great photo. Shooting what you have, where you have it.
- Using the tools… Equipment, settings.
- Timing and persistence…. Light, Composition.
- Processing your work.
Equipment needed:
- DSLR camera
- Lens
- Tripod
- Additional items may include but not a requisite: Flash, flash trigger, umbrella if rain is in forecast.
- Knowledge on how to work your camera
We will then head out to Tandy Hills Nature Area, a mere 10 minute drive from Photos On The Vine for a hands on Nature Photo Walk. Tandy Hills is a a 160 acre indigenous prairie remnant located in the heart of Fort Worth, Texas. You will not only receive training from one of the top landscape photographers in our area, but have the opportunity to build your nature portfolio in this beautiful environment.
Ray Downs is a published photographer that has been shooting around the world for 30 years. He started in Germany in the ’70s shooting a camera he purchased at the base Exchange. His photos are in use in hospitals, book covers, websites, and research papers to illustrate and encourage.
Ray is a photo sales rep, teaches photography, and leads photo tours to help others grow in conveying their vision to others.
His favorite subjects are birds, nature, and landscape photography.

Photos On The Vine is a local photography studio which also holds various types of photography classes from beginner classes to studio lighting.
